What are Pop Up Shops?
PopUp Shops by definition refer to temporary, short-term retail shops that come up in structure or non-structured area and are generally built to take advantage of a viral trend or a seasonal demand. They historically have been operational from 3 days to 3 months and were established in vacant lots or abandoned retail spaces.
Over the past few years, these have become sort of fad with brands setting up popups for a variety of reasons from launching a new collection to creating buzz around a product. Or, just experience centres around a brand to build brand recall and get audiences hands-off about certain products.
PopUps make a lot of sense for online-only brands as setting up one in high footfall area allows them to not only gather a lot of eyeballs (and brand attention) but allows potential customers to look and feel the product. These make a good business case for products like decor or homemade candles.
While Popups have been mostly used by fashion and retail industry mostly, it began extending into other genres around in past few years when temporary restaurants started popping up in various locations. Interest in pop-up retail has grown since then as temporary storefronts for national, local and internet brands have started up.
